The soon-to-be-released 2017 Porsche 911 has updated its power plant, replacing the previously available 3.4- and 3.8-liter engines with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged version. Less is more, finds CNET. Click "play" in the video clip below to watch the full report.

The slightly smaller engine is a little less loud. CNET advises opting for the sport exhaust, which fills the cabin with sound thanks to "Sound Symposer" technology.

Although a slight turbo lag is noticeable at times, the turbo thrust pulls the 911 through corner after corner with exhilaration. Shifting is a joy as always, notes CNET, whether you opt for the clean manual or the dual-clutch PDK transimission. The available "Sports Response" button provides ridiculous punch by activating a 20-second "Sports+ mode."
