Porsche Cars North America, Inc. is issuing a voluntary safety recall on 17,871 Macan models, specifically cars made between March 4, 2014, and October 20, 2015.
What Does the Recall Mean?
The sensor mat for the occupancy detection system on the front passenger seat may not function properly, which could make the car think it can’t detect a front passenger at all, and as a result, in the event of a crash, the front passenger airbag may not deploy. Porsche takes your safety very seriously and urges you to check when you purchased your Macan. Customers will be notified about the recall, and if needed, the repair is scheduled to take about 2.5 hours. No incidents have been reported.
