Exterior Design

Those classic rounded headlights may be familiar in shape, but the LED elements they contain are a modern touch that adds both style and function to the exterior of the 911. You'll be able to see further than ever at night, while you'll be easily visible during the day, something critical for a low-slung sports coupe around the busy streets of Irondale and Birmingham. Beyond the headlights, the familiar long hood and bubble roof arrangement is still a staple of the Porsche 911 as we move into 2020. The narrow taillights are perhaps the biggest departure from the original design, but even so their overall shape; rounded at the end and tapering as they wrap around the bumper, is still reminiscent of those original 911 models.

Interior Design

Inside, the Porsche 911 greets you with a similar simplicity as on the outside. The vertical dash features three tiers that cut straight across from door to door. The top tier houses your vents and shows off the analog clock you typically expect to find inside the 911. The center tier is comprised of brushed silver or carbon fiber and serves as the focal point to split the top and bottom tiers more than anything. Finally, the lowest section is upholstered like the upper area, and here you'll find the glovebox on the passenger side. Meanwhile, the center console sweeps from the top of the dash down to the bottom before curving back between the front seats to give you your shifter, drive mode selection, and other critical controls.

Performance

The performance of the 2020 Porsche 911 lineup is as varied as the number of models there are available. Starting with the very basic 911 Carrera you'll find 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Boxer six-cylinder engine that churns out 379 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. At the top of the range sits the 911 Turbo S which throws down 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from a 3.8-liter twin-turbo boxer 6 and can carry you from a standstill to 60 mph in just about 2.6 seconds.

Technology

Take full advantage of the 10.9-inch central infotainment display and built-in navigation system to stay seamlessly connected while you're enjoying the open road. Sometimes you want to get lost while listening to your favorite playlist from your smartphone. Other times, finding the fastest route to your destination is critical. With multiple modes and connectivity options, the Porsche Communication Management system allows you to tailor your technology to suit your needs and easily make changes on the fly.

Safety

Despite it's supercar pedigree, the Porsche 911 doesn't leave you bereft of the driver assistance features that are found in modern luxury cars. You'll have forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a radar-assisted cruise control system that helps you maintain a safe and set distance from the vehicles ahead, even as they speed up and slow down. The new 911 even comes with  a WET mode to help you control power output and wheelspin when driving in less-than-ideal conditions. What else would you expect from the supercar that is daily driven more than any other?
